Moving to a new city isn't a walk in the park. It's exciting, fresh, but yet a daunting endeavor. You don't know anyone or perhaps if you're lucky one other person. However, that's fucking thrilling and daring. If you've done this, congratulations you have bigger balls then 80% of the population. Now, that's not a knock against anyone. If the world was filled with people constantly making dramatic changes, it would be an even crazier place, which is hard to picture. When you move to a new city, it's quite easy to feel lonely or question if you just cut your own throat. Committing, is something I believe we all struggle with, especially in our generation today. Currently, I just relocated to San Diego, I have had feelings of pure bliss, loneliness, excitement and questioning. In other words, it's been a hell of a ride thus far. Let's see if these tips help you grab those balls to jump or make a dramatic shift.

Talk to Everyone-

Approach the opposite sex. This is more for the men out there, because lord knows us guys love when you ladies actually approach us. However, guys can get stage fright. We are all terrified of rejection, but I got news for you man, it's part of the game. Guys talk to as many women as possible. She has a boyfriend? That's perfect, because guess what, he may just become a new friend and introduce you to his buddies. Bonus, if you act like a gentlemen, who knows, maybe she has a few cute friends. Bottom line, make an effort to interact with everyone around you.

Don't discriminate by age or stick to conversations at the bar. Hit a yoga class, take a walk or go to a coffee shop. The next interaction could be your future boss, career, best man/women or love. You moved to meet new faces, so get out their!

Get Use to Not Knowing-

Ah yes the fear of the unknown. Collectively, it's a sickness we all catch from time to time. Not knowing is an uneasy feeling, that isn't greeted with giggles and play. For instance, I have been concerned with finding a place to live and a new job. At the moment, I'm sort of in limbo land. However, its a good lesson to learn how to relax in a time of uncertainty. Take this time to enjoy some down regulation. I promise you, it will all fall into place.

Leave Your Phone and Get Lost-

It's simple, leave your phone in the car and wander. Not only, will you be more receptive to conversation, but also you will fully absorb into your new surroundings. Presently, we could all be more tuned into our everyday world and less enslaved to our devices.

Take the leap. There's so much to gain, and nothing to lose with experiencing a new place, home or endeavor. Grab your huevos and jump!

All Love,

A-Thomp
